Ellisar is an adventure and exploration game set on the floating islands of the Wandering Isles, high above Earth's sky.
The game takes place in a dystopian, fantastical version of Earth where humans have polluted their entire planet. In an attempt to alleviate the waste, they launch it into the sky, inadvertently contaminating the floating islands above and putting them in grave danger.
You embark on a journey as a mythical creature with the ability to morph into different forms based on the animals you encounter. Using these abilities, you must navigate your world to locate hidden energy orbs needed to activate the cleaning tower—your last hope to save the floating islands from Earth's contamination.
HOW IT WAS MADE:
We were a team of four university students, approaching our final academic year.
In this project, I served primarily as the art director and lead artist, overseeing both the visual aesthetics and the narrative direction. I was also responsible for creating audiovisual content, such as the trailer and cinematic sequences. Additionally, I created various 3D models, including the main character and its animations, and played a key role in designing and developing large portions of the level and its mechanics.
For the VFX, I focused heavily on crafting unique effects for the player’s transformations and interactions, ensuring they enhanced the overall gameplay experience.
HOW TO PLAY:
In Ellisar, you can switch between different forms using the number keys 1, 2, and 3 to adapt to various situations:
Biped (Standard Form)
Key 1 or touch the ground to transform into the humanoid form.
WASD to move along the XZ axis.
Space to jump, with a double jump ability.
Camera control with the mouse.
Abilities:
Move around freely.
Jump and use spirals scattered throughout the world to propel yourself forward.
Create a flash of light to make certain walls disappear (currently implemented for one wall).
Flight (Glider Form)
Key 2 while airborne to transform into a glider (unlocked later in the game).
W and S to control pitch (facing up and down).
A and D to control roll (moving sideways).
Abilities:
Use feathers to boost forward in mid-air.
Ball (Bouncing Form)
Key 3 or touch the water to transform into the ball form (unlocked later in the game).
WASD to move.
Abilities:
Bounce off every surface.
Impulse downward for a stronger bounce.
Use feathers to propel forward and gain significant inertia.
By mastering these forms, you must solve puzzles and navigate the floating islands to gather the energy orbs that will save your world from Earth's pollution.
